“That baby needs to get some fresh air.” Frances was washing the dishes by hand, again, even though they had a dishwasher. Frances ‘didn’t trust them’ so she washed their dishes by hand, adding to her own story of martyrdom she would share with her friends back home.

“Sure, Mom.” Michelle’s voice was flat. “But not now.”

“Uh, I think Frances might be on to something.”

“What?” Michelle glared at Cass.

“I think your mom should take Joy in the baby carrier and go for a walk.”

“What baby carrier? I want to take her in the carriage I bought you. I’m not wearing my granddaughter like she’s a growth or something.”

“I don’t know Mom,” Michelle’s eyes mirrored the worry in her voice.

“Look, if she starts crying I’ll bring her back. You need to give me credit. You survived, didn’t you?”

Cass bolted up from the table. It took an hour to get Joy fed, changed, and bundled up. Michelle chewed her lip as she placed Joy in the carriage. “You won’t be long right? I mean she’ll need to eat again and...”

“Honey, believe me, I don’t want to stroll around with a crying baby.” Frances pushed the carriage slowly down the drive on her way to the sidewalk.

Michelle shaded her eyes and watched as Frances inched along the sidewalk. “If she goes that slow it’ll take her an hour to go around the block.”

“At least that.” Cass tugged Michelle’s hand and led her up the drive. They entered the kitchen. Cass leaned her shoulder against the door, and then flipped the knob to set the deadbolt. She wrapped her arms around Michelle from behind and nuzzled her neck. Michelle brought her hand up and cupped the side of Cass’s face and relaxed into her embrace.

Cass turned Michelle in her arms and kissed her once more before she stepped back and gazed into Michelle’s eyes. “Race you to the bedroom,” she called out and ran toward their room. Michelle was laughing when she caught up to Cass. She lunged at her, catching Cass around the waist, knocking her off balance. They landed in the middle of their bed. Cass rolled over and sat up, ripped her shirt and bra over her head, and tossed them aside before she shed her pants and underwear.

“Hey, I need to leave my bra on, okay?” Michelle lifted her hips and pulled her pants and underwear off at the same time.

“More than okay.” Cass unbuttoned Michelle’s shirt and pushed it off of her shoulders as she kissed her way along her neck.

“Are we really doing this?” Michelle asked as she spread her legs. Cass lay over Michelle and nestled her body between her thick thighs. She inhaled the familiar smell of her skin as she nosed her loose curls aside and kissed the smooth curve where Michelle’s neck and shoulder met.

Michelle smoothed her hands over Cass’s back. “Aren’t you afraid of my mom busting in on us?”

“Nope.” Cass smiled against Michelle’s ear. She leaned back to watch Michelle’s face as she
